Bruce Madden

We have learnt from Western Australia that Bruce Maden of 76 Entry (C Sqn) passed away on Friday 23rd May 2025.

After graduating from Cranwell in 1959, he was posted as a navigator on Vulcans and he retired on the 21st May 1965.

He ran a construction company near Preston specialising in restoration of farm buildings. He was a very keen cricketer and for 40 years was passionately involved with the Great Eccleston Cricket Club, of which he was President. A lifetime love of the outdoors, he continued long walks to the end. He was a mountaineer having climbed both Matterhorn and Mount Blanc as well as all 283 of the Scottish Munros.

In later years, following the death of his wife, he commuted between his Lancashire home and West Australia, where he married Dianne and became heavily involved with the Church Mission in Dunsborough, 200 miles south of Perth.
