Winner of the Queen’s Medal at Cranwell, Doug went to 4FTS (Valley) in 1964 (Gnats). A posting to Little Rissington followed before posting back to Valley as a QFI, all in 1964.In 1966 he joined the Red Arrows at Kemble before going to 229 (Hunter) OCU at Brawdy. This was followed by a tour on 20 Sqn in Tengah before becoming a Flt Cdr on 234 Sqn (Hunters) at Chivenor. In 1975, he undertook the TWU Course (Hunters) at Brawdy before the Short Course for his tours on the Harrier.In 1984 he undertook TWU course on the Hawk before becoming Stn Cdr at Brawdy.
